Meet  Nicola

Role: Founder, Lead Counsellor & Supervisor

"Over the years I have seen and experienced the frustration from different people around limited access to immediate support when it comes to mental health. Therefore, it is my aim to provide a service which enables flexibility and limited, or zero, waiting lists for children, adults, young people and families. I am a strong believer in early intervention to help prevent the point of crisis and feel that everyone is deserving of support and acceptance.

I attend monthly one to one supervision, group supervision, and peer support to ensure I am working ethically and to the highest of standards.

My specialist areas are working with trauma, working with children and working with anxiety.

Many individuals can experience different symptoms associated with painful and traumatic past events. These symptoms become trapped in the body and resurface in ways such as flashbacks, which can make you feel as though you are reliving that exact moment over again. Anxiety, shame, and hopelessness are a few emotions that can linger long after the event has passed and can become difficult to shift on your own.  With the support of counselling you can begin to process those memories to reduce the impact of the overwhelming feelings that are left behind after a traumatic event

A good counsellor is more than just someone who is there to listen. A good counsellor is understanding, empathic, honest, creative, able to use their initiative.  Is tuned in, interested in every word spoken, non-judgmental, accepting, and sees others as equal to them

Meet Samantha

Role: Counsellor

"Hi, I'm Samantha. I currently work for Creative Minds North Star Counselling CIC as a Counsellor. I love my role here because it is so rewarding in many ways, from seeing the business go from strength to strength, to seeing clients progress to chatting with parents, carers and others within the community.

I am so passionate about mental health and early intervention, I have worked as a counsellor for many years within various settings and locations, from charitable organisations, schools, universities and GP surgeries. I have experience working with all age groups from diverse backgrounds. I work in a person-centred and creative way and use different techniques to suit the needs of each individual, creating a safe, warm and non-judgemental environment to explore your your thoughts and feelings. One of my favourite quotes is , " Sometimes the smallest step in the right direction ends up being the biggest step of your life, tip toe if you must, but take that first step". And that's how I see  a client's journey in counselling, it doesn't matter how long it takes to get to where you want to be, with the right support we can get you to where you want to be. Taking the first step is the hardest, most courageous step in the right direction and together we can find ways to move forward."
