Rachel Cowey
Counsellor and EMDR Therapist
"Hello! I’m Rachel and I’m a psychotherapeutic counsellor working with children, young people, and adults at Creative Minds. I’m also a qualified EMDR practitioner and can provide EMDR to adults only.
I bring a range of counselling practices to my work such as play therapy, creative methods, aspects of cognitive behavioural therapy and dialectical behavioural therapy, and motivational interviewing. I work with each person as an individual and will work with you to find what suits you best in therapy!
I have worked in a variety of charity settings and areas, such as general practice (working with school anxiety, social anxiety, depression and low mood, and low self-esteem), anticipatory grief and bereavement, domestic abuse and sexual abuse. For the last 6 years, I have specialised in working with eating distress, eating disorders, and body image. I believe recovery is possible no matter what stage you are at.
I also worked for 2 years in CAMHS Tier 2 service in Hendon.
I am AuDHD, and will chat with you any adaptions I can make to my work and the environment where possible to help you feel comfortable in the therapy room."
